Rohit is Not Particularly Amused by the new BCCI Guidelines

Has it arrived from the official end?

Rohit Sharma appears not too pleased regarding the directions published by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) concerning the travel, family, and other personal staff of players during tours.

The India captain reportedly telling Ajit Agarkar while he examined the presentation before the journalists, ‘I have to sit with the secretary (Devjit Saikia) and discuss.’ This one brief conversation has already circulated widely on social fora.

When he was put to a direct question regarding it, Rohit raised the veracity of these so-called SOPs. “Who told you this? Has it come from the official side? Has it come from the office?” was how Rohit dodged the issue.

The journalists present were given the newly issued guidelines concerning discipline. They forbid players bringing family as well as family entourage on tour. In addition to ensuring players participate in domestic cricket, the regulations also require all players to be driven in official motor vehicles. This follows news from the recent Australian tour that some senior players had been reported to be organizing their own travel.

But Agarkar seemed comfortable with the constraints.

“If we keep at it, I reckon we will discuss it forever. I think rules are present in every team. In the last few months, we have had a range of discussions about how you can improve as a unit and bond together as a team. It is not a school. “It is not a punishment,” said the chief selector.

These rules, which came out (on social media) after a recent review meeting on the evaluation of the performances in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), seem to be plausible, but have not yet been issued officially by BCCI. Neither has the governance body put them up in its handle which is verified.

But Agarkar did state that there are some dos and don’ts when you are under the flag. “When you are dos and don’ts when you are under the national flag, you simply follow the rules. Once more, these are adult people so we are talking about so they are stars of their own. But finally, you are carrying the country. Some rules are fundamentally every team abide by.
