Jasprit Bumrah’s name was absent from the updated ODI squad for the England series Missed by Bumrah was the ODI squad set for the three match series on 6th February in Nagpur His omission from the squad has definitely raised eyebrows considering the fact that the cricket board has not issued an official statement regarding it.
When Ajit Agarkar, the Senior-selection committee chairman spoke with the press, he informed that Bumrah would be missing in the first two ODIs. His statement was made following the announcement of the squad for the England series and the Champions Trophy which was made at the beginning of this month. To top it off, Agarkar stated that there would be a medical bulletin made available post consultation with those having expertise in the relevant areas concerning the back injury that Bumrah sustained.

While participating in the fifth and final test of the border-gavaskar trophy in Sydney, Bumrah had sustained an injury on his back, which resulted in a severe restriction of movement When the star Indian fast bowler was scanned during the test match, he was mid-way and therefore unable to bowl during the second innings for India.
“Bumrah will not be available for the first two ODIs against England, as he has been advised rest for a total of five weeks. We will keep a close eye on his recovery and will get an update from the medical team sometime in early February.” Agarkar had said.
On February 3rd Bumrah was rumored to have arrived in Bengaluru to have his fitness evaluated by the BCCI medical personnel. Since his participation in the Champions Trophy is uncertain, a report is expected to be filed.
India will have three frontline pacers for the ODI series Harshaet Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami. After a long-term injury layoff, Shami, who was playing in the T20I series, has returned to international cricket. On Tuesday, he was training in Nagpur and was very energetic.
